Hello Everyone.

I like to add my Mask, and Effects on Adjustment Layers, and not adding any Effects or Mask to my Original clip. What is the downside of this Technique.

Thanks.

There are things like using matte effects which require three layers, one of which is the clip itself. Your workflow makes that a bit difficult.

Nesting would be difficult with your arrangement. Many combined effects need to be applied to the clip, then nested. Then second effect applied to the nest.

And some effects must be applied to the clip.

You can't do everything with AL's. Nor should you want to.

Some things do ok on adjustment layers, some things not so much. Some things choke when applied to an AL. So ... it depends.

Now, what is your aversion to putting things on the clip? It is only meta in Pr, there's nothing involved with the clip on disc at all, so I'm not sure what the issue is you're seeing.

    Mr. Neil.

There Is no Issue. I was watching Masking Tutorials, and I noticed they Mask on the actual Clip. The reason I like adding Effects, and Mask to the Adjustment layers are because It looks more organized. for example, My First Adjustment Layer, Is Basic Color Corrections, and My second Adjustment layer Is Creative Adjustments and Looks. And My third Adjustment Layer Is Curves, and so on. It looks like I have more control, and I can easily go to each Layer, and adjust them.

Now, you are saying some things don't look good on Adjustment Layer. Could you tell me an example?

    Thank you very much
