That sounds very frustrating. I'm sorry that your experience with the application has been so troublesome lately. If your workflow allows, you can create low-resolution proxies that are smaller in size than your source media and store them in your internal storage. You can also use the proxies for test exports or client feedback. That way, you'll only have to link the source media once during the final export.

As for a long-term solution to this issue, I can think of a few things that might help (not including the option of internal storage or new external storage):

1. Try creating a new Administrator account and grant all permissions when prompted.

2. Launch Premiere Pro with all third-party plugins disabled (https://adobe.ly/4laPFh8;

3. Uninstall any non-essential software that was bundled with your SSD.

4. Go to Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/25.0/Profile-<Username>. Move all the folder contents to a new location (like a folder on your Desktop). Once the folder is empty, launch Premiere Pro and create a new project. Import your Sequences and check if that helps.

Gutentag Steven!

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your post. Yes, I've had this problem in the past too.

It might have to do with the location of the media. Did you rename the media drive or did you change the folder structure at all? Is the SSD connected or in a NAS or SAN? If so, things like this can happen with projects. I'm not sure how one would remedy the issue other than restoring the name, or putting the media back in the original folder structure. If it has not been touched, then something else is amiss. For me, I just gave up and relinked them individually - which yes, takes a long while. Would you like to file a bug report on this? If so, please let me know and I'll move your post to the bugs forum. I agree that being in this situation does not make much sense and that the devs might want to take a closer look at your case. Let me know!

Danke Sehr!
Kevin

Hey Kevin, thanks for you answer.

I can assure you that I did not touch the location of the Premiere Files and the original files on the SSD and I also did not rename anything.

Yes I would like to file a bug report on this if there is a chance that this is avoidable in the future.

Hey Steven,

It is recommended to store files internally or use external storage optimised for video editing, but I understand it's not always possible. Could you check if the "Relink others automatically" option is enabled in the Link Media menu?

This might be related to a permissions issue. If you're on a macOS system, please check if Premiere Pro has "Files and Folders" and "Full Disk Access" permissions.

You can also try a different port on your system and another SSD cable (if available).

If these options don't work for you, please mention your OS details, current Premiere Pro version, and SSD specifications.

Thanks,

Ishan
