metadata and timecode burn-in effect not working on merged clips

Applying metadata and timecode burn-in to an adjustment layer, in order to show metadata related to clips below on the timeline such as scene, log note, source timecode.

With regular clips this works fine, but when merged clips are used it no longer works, ecxept for timecode and comments.

to reproduce:

combine video and audio to make a merged clip, add to timeline.

edit scene, shot, description, log note, comment data in the project panel for the merged clips.

set the metadata and timecode burn-in plugin to display these parameters, and only the comment metadata will show.

Premiere version: 25.1 on Windows 10 (but bug has been around since previous versions)

Hi @Pablo Diartinez -  Avoid using the “Merge Clips” option if you rely on metadata, as it is known to remove all metadata from the clips.

Jamie's advice is sound, and...

Merging clips doesn't remove that metadata, but it does make it impossible for PPro to decide which metadata to use. 🙂

Thanks for your reply Jamie and Bruce.

This still counts as a bug to be fixed, though. If I can see the metadata of the merged clip in the project panel, then why wouldn't the plugin be able to access the exact same information from these same clip when they're in the timeline?

Or is not being able to fully use metadata in a production that records video and audio seperately (an industry standard practice) not an issue that merits attention?

Hi @Pablo Diartinez - It is recommended to use "Create Multi-Camera Source Sequence" when syncing clips.
