Minimize window shortcut on Mac

New Here ,
May 20, 2019 May 20, 2019

HI guys,

First time posting... was wondering if there's a shortcut for minimizing the window while using CC 2015? For example, in OS command-M minimizes any screen I'm viewing, however within PP that shortcut will bring up the media encoder. I can change that shortcut to something else, but I haven't been able to then apply that shortcut to minimizing the screen since I can't actually find a shortcut for minimizing the screen. Is there one?

I would find it very bizarre if there's no shortcut to minimize... especially since the standard shortcut for maximizing works.

Thanks in Advance!

Marc

You could change the shortcut to for Export Media to something else, like Cmd+E, then I suspect the Minimize shortcut will work. I always used Hot Corners in System Preferences>Display to move my mouse to the bottom-right corner of the screen to temporarily reveal my Desktop. Hitting that Hot Corner again will bring everything back. I always found that much more useful than minimizing a bunch of windows.

Thanks David,

It's funny you say that because I actually did change the shortcut to Cmd+E last night! haha

And, like you, I thought maybe the regular Minimize shortcut would kick in but it didn't, and as I mentioned I wasn't able to find a minimize shortcut within PP shortcuts. So I'm still stumped.

I don't know much about hot corners but if that's my only option I'll have to look into it.

Thanks again for your help,

Marc

I've only been able to Hide it by hitting Command+H

I don't know how shortcut programming really works but what if Adobe didn't build in a Minimize command that could be called by MacOS? And therefore that is why when you changed your shortcut for exporting media the Command+M for minimizing still didn't work. Because I believe MacOS shortcuts are just referring to menu items that already exist in a program. Hence why you can remap shortcuts as long as it has the right menu name. But because there is no "Minimize" in the menu options for Premiere Pro MacOS doesn't know what to do.

Perhaps you're right and there is no shortcut. I'm just really surprised my that.

Command+H works pretty well though, so I'll probably use that from now on. Thanks for the suggestion
