hello I'm an editor and my clients gave me footage in new HVEC format. And I edited the video.
problem is when I go to export the video it makes the video overexposed and the saturation is too much.
so I read somewhere on one of these forums that people were having similar issues several years ago.
anyways a solution someone posted was to go to clip at top and go to modify and then color correct it that way.
but my issues is I can't do that because modify is greyed out when I select the footage in my timeline.
its frustrating because I've even used lumetri to try to course correct these export changes but even so when it gets exported it still coming out overexposed and what not.
im no expert on video coding and formatting so im doing my best to get myself up to date. I just know keeping video formats the same produces quality image.
please help.

You aren't setting color management up, as Ann's links will tell you.
The Lumetri Panel's new Settings tab has all the color management controls of Premiere.
For most users, Display Color Management should be on.
Next, auto detect log and auto tonemap are interactive, and should both be on ... which will solve your problem pretty much.
Set the display gamma to what you want ... the odd Apple-only QuickTime/gamma 1.96, to "web/2.2" , or to "broadcast/2.4".
Set the Sequence CM to the color space you will export and therefore deliver to.
Use only presets that match the color space of your sequence. SDR/Rec.709, should not have either HLG or PQ in the preset name.
If you are using either HDR form, PQ or HLG, you should select a preset with the appropriate form in the preset name.
