Modify not an option

I feel stupid but I am new at this and trying to teach myself. I am using Adobe Premier Pro 2018 and Adobe's Classroom in Book for Premier Pro 2018. I'm on chapter 8 using their canned lesson and it's gone well so far.

Now, it says "Right click the clip in the Project panel and choose Modify>Interpret Footage.

I right click the clip in the project panel and I get a menu but Modify is nowhere on it.

On the chance they meant Source Panel or some other panel, I clicked around....no Modify.

HELP PLEASE

While this may not be it, also make sure to be right-clicking on the clip name or picon/thumbnail. If you click and accidentally get in-between text fields, you'll get the Project panel's default context menu (New Bin, New Search Bin...etc.)

The clip row should highlight light grey, and you should get a longer context menu which should have Modify as Stan says.

Also I'll throw this out there simply because you say you're new (I certainly don't mean to be insulting), but remember the Project panel is the panel with your clips, sequences, bins, etc. Not your Program or Timeline. I know some other editing software uses different names for things, so if you were right clicking your Program video panel, that could be another reason why you don't see Modify. I got names of windows confused myself when switching from FCP7 years back.

oh my...awh11...thank you for not being afraid to remind me of the difference between the Program panel and the Project panel. That was the problem.... like I said I feel stupid.

I did lessons 1 through 7 in this book a couple months ago and just picked it up again and should have taken a little more time to refamiliarize myself with the environment. Not everything is intuitive. Oh why can't we all just stick with print media where I am comfortable!

Thank you for your help and for being gentle!

No worries! I'm glad that's all it was!  Kudos to you for diving into learning a new editing software (or editing in general if this is your first experience with one).

It can get very technical with naming conventions and that's nobody's fault. Like I said, even I say the wrong terms sometimes because each software has their own name for things. I will still call the Razor tool the "Blade" tool probably until the end of time and I have no intention on ever changing that. haha

    Cheers!

Be sure you are clicking on a clip and not a sequence?

    I see modify...
