Monterey 12.3 and Premiere Pro 2022 dropping frames no matter what resolution

Monterey 12.3 is not working with Premiere Pro 2022 in all builds.
Rendering previews, lowering playing seetings, resetting to default preferences...nothing works.
Meanwhile same video files play flawless on Mac OS desktop preview and in Quicktime.
Tested also in Premiere 15 and no success.
Davinci Resolve plays smoother.

Where your project files and media files stored? it is best if those are not on the desktop (or main drive)

Hi Christian,
Standard practice is to use an external ssd drive for projects and media files.

Please examine your troublesome files with MediaInfo and post the results of Text or Tree view here. There may be a clue in format/codec for those files.

Hi Jeff,
There's nothing to examine, since the files are all the same format as it always has been. Even old files that worked fine a weeks, months and years ago won't play smoothly after the Monterey 12.3 update.

Hey Tran,

Sorry about this. Here's a sanity check: I'm running Macs on Monterey with no issues. On Intel and with M1. It appears your Mac is Intel-based. Yes? I see a couple of significant differences, though: you have more RAM and an eGPU. I would look at the latter first.

  1. Have you tried the same without the eGPU plugged in?
  2. What kind of media are you using?
  3. Which camera are you using?
  4. Have you tried a new project?
  5. Have you tried closing all projects and deleting all media cache?
  • Delete all traces of residual media cache from the previous version - bad cache can muck things up. The best way is to choose File > Close All Projects to ensure you don't have any projects open. Then, choose Premiere Pro > Preferences > Media Cache and click the button to remove all media cache. Close Premiere Pro.
    • Reboot the system to clear the RAM cache.
    • Preferences: Press the Alt/Option key as you launch Premiere Pro and take a second to delete Preferences once more. Now you are starting fresh, and you should now launch this project and this sequence. How is it performing currently? Let me know. I hope I can help.

I hope we can help you.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hello Kevin,

Thanks for the response. I have literally done every single item you listed with no success. I am stumped.
