.mov files corrupted

I'm a PC user. I have team members in the field sending me videos taken on their iPhones and I have to edit them in Premiere Pro. I can import them in, but they come in corrupted. They look grey and kind of like if you applied a hypass filter from photoshop. I am able to play them properly outside of Premiere. I even had my boss who is a mac user convert them to mp4 and then I was able to use them without issue. I can't keep having my boss do this conversion for me. What is causing this? Is there a fix? Is there another software I can use to do the conversion myself if it can't be done in Adobe?

Like many here I use Handbrake as John suggests. If so, make sure you go to the Video tab in that utility app, check the CFR circle and set a specific number frame-rate in the box above it. Then set compression to near placebo to maintain image quality. You can batch process in that app, though it takes a couple times futzing things to figure out how it works.

How to use:

1) Create a desktop shortcut for a preset file (don't copy by mistake - won't work!)

(Preset for your case is called "Rewrap into [ .mp4]")

2) Grab video files you want to process and drop them on the shortcut

3) Done! Look for output files in corresponding folders according to preset used: Proxy\, delivery*\, remuxed*\
