Question

MTS file goes out of sync after importing to Premiere Pro 2018

Okay, here is my issue:

I have an recording of a seminar which is cutted in camera on every 30 minutes. The seminar is about 80 minutes so I have 3 MTS files.

So far so good. I've tried to playback these files with VLC media player and the work perfectly. The problem occurs only after importing these files in Premiere Pro.

I am placing them on the timeline so I can edit them, but when I hit  the spacebar to playback the footage I can clearly see the audio is out of sync. To be even more specific - the out of sync audio occurs only on the second and the third video. The first video works fine.

Once again - these same files work just fine out of Premiere Pro.

I've tried several possible solutions but none of them worked.

Please help as this is a paid gig and I don't know what to do..

Thanks in advance!

I have a Sony Handycam HDR-CX675 and am having the same issue. However, it should be noted that I've created 332 videos with no problems. However, as of this year, I am. I do lawn care videos so I pretty much don't do anything during the winter time so one of the adobe premiere pro updates during the 2018-2019 winter break caused an issue. I have not done any updates to the camera.

Currently it seems that HandBrake solved the problem of the 2 problematic files but deleted the file which was OK now is without audio. It is not a problem as I have the old files but what do you think might be the problem for that ? It it possible that I did something wrog with the software so I will run through the files again but anyway I will be glad to hear your opinions.

To properly use mts files one needs the auxiliary files; the entire card.

I have been reading elsewere that if you use Sony Play Memories to copy card and then import into Premiere there is no out of sync issue.

Ahh I understand. I will ask them if they keep the data and try again.

Meanwhile I will be trying with Handbrake but seems to take a lot of time so I can't give an answer yet.

Although I didn't solve the problem yet I want to thank you for the support!

My first step would be to explain to the client that I need the full media card contents, not just the video files.

The camera is unknown as I am only the editor and I am paid to edit.

I've tried to install additional codecs, change file format, proxies also and already forgeot what else but literally tried every possible solution which I found on the internet.

Ah, never install codecs!!!!!

to get the project out of the door I would transcode the footage with HandBrake before bringing it into Premiere.

You just have the 3 mts files no additional auxiliary files? Copy of the entire card?

As camera is unknown, please post screenshot of clip in Mediainfo in treeview here on forum.

What possible solutions did you try?

Which camera is used.
