Latest premiere (25.3). Struggeling very hard with avchd files (*.MTS) . Can barely scrubb threw them. Previous premiere version (25.2) Works with them just fine. Tried to convert them to mp4 files, and still nothing. Tried clearing The cache.

Thanks

I face the same problem.

There was a version where MTS files had audio issues and all there was was just white noise. Now with the latest version this bug is fixed but the video doesnt use hardware accelleration anymore. Adobe Premiere is at the moment unusable. I hope they fix this bug as soon as possible!

This is actually happening with the latest version, also 25.4.1. When working with Canon camcorders that support AVCHD, I was forced to revert to 25.2, which works perfectly with AVCHD. Additionally, I was also getting these errors with Canon .MXF files. These new features in the latest update, which I don't even use, are rendered useless by these AVCHD operating system errors. I hope the next update fixes these errors, but for now, I'll stick with 25.2.

Roll back to Version 25.0.0. It's all working with that version!

Im really getting tired of those bugs. Every update i hope they'll fix those bugs and nothing.

Im gonna give it one more chance in the next update, and after that, it's straight up to davinchi resolve.

No. Just premiere struggling with MTS files. Can't work with them. Timeline freezes and getting laggy

Im having also a problem with linking those media , playback performance , and rendering also .

I have a workstation hp with intel xeon w 2245 , 128gb ram , rtx 3060 .

Last year with older pc i rendered them for 1 hour timeline took 8 minutes to render and used video encode and decode from gpu , now it is now using them and takes about 25 minutes to render those footages.

Sometimes also with mp4 files does not utilize hardware encoder .

I tried davinci it rendered with same settings within 6 minutes and faster playback .

Premiere pro 25.4 installed btw

You can see it is not utilizing the gpu video encode and decode as it should

I noticed audio noise and sometimes a delay with files from my Canon XA55 camera. The files are AVCHD .MTS. I was also forced to go back to version 25.2.3. I love Adobe Premiere, but each new update delays our work with problems and bugs. The program was once more stable. I am not an industrial company, but imagine a company that has huge workflows with these problems. Abobe, look more carefully at us, regardless of the brands of cameras and camcorders. The video format codec is the same, so the defect is not in the brand of the camcorder or camera, nor in the codec.

Hi rogey0101,

We're sorry to hear about this. We're currently investigating an issue with MTS media in the latest version. Could you please confirm if you are experiencing playback/performance issues or audio noise issues with MTS media?

Thanks,

Sumeet

I recently upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 because Adobe Premiere was running too slowly. I even spent $2,000 on a new computer specifically to edit video more smoothly — including footage from my older Canon C100 camera, which records in the MTS file format.

Unfortunately, after importing the MTS files into Adobe Premiere on Windows 11 Pro, I encountered a major issue: instead of normal audio, I only get loud static noise in all clips.

I’ve spent hours trying to solve this — installing various codecs and researching solutions — but nothing worked. What’s even more frustrating is that Windows 11 plays the files with no problem, and on Windows 10 Pro with the exact same version of Premiere, there were no audio issues at all.

This is incredibly frustrating.

Many people in the industry have expressed similar frustrations with Adobe Premiere, and are turning to alternatives like Apple computers, DaVinci Resolve, or Sony Vegas.

Please do something about support for older MTS files from cameras like the Canon C100. These cameras are still widely used, and many professionals rely on older equipment in their daily work.

I have the exact same issue

Issue: Audio Distortion/Static with Sony PXW-X70 AVCHD .MTS Files in Premiere Pro and Media Encoder (2025)

Summary:
When importing .MTS files recorded on a Sony PXW-X70 (AVCHD, 1080p, 29.97 fps, audio: AC-3 48kHz stereo, lav mic via XLR adapter) into Adobe Premiere Pro 2025 and Adobe Media Encoder 2025 (tested versions: Media Encoder 25.3 and 24.6.5), the audio is heavily distorted or sounds like maxed-out static. The issue persists even after transcoding to ProRes MOV or MXF with uncompressed PCM audio using Media Encoder. These same files play back with clean audio in VLC, QuickTime, Windows Media Player, and DaVinci Resolve.

Reproduction steps:

  1. Record video on Sony PXW-X70 with audio via external lav mic, saved as AVCHD .MTS (audio: AC-3 48kHz stereo).

  2. Import .MTS file directly into Premiere Pro 2025, or

  3. Transcode the .MTS file to MOV/MXF with PCM audio using Adobe Media Encoder 2025.

  4. Import the transcoded file into Premiere Pro or play back in VLC.

Expected result:
Audio plays cleanly in Premiere and exported/transcoded files, matching what is heard in VLC or Resolve.

Actual result:
Audio is loud, static, and maxed out—clearly distorted or digital noise—in both Premiere Pro and exported files. The issue is present even with ProRes 422 HQ, PCM audio, and MXF or MOV containers.

Troubleshooting already performed:

  • Verified original .MTS plays correctly in VLC, QuickTime, and DaVinci Resolve.

  • Confirmed Media Encoder export settings: ProRes 422 HQ, PCM 48kHz, 16/24-bit, stereo.

  • Cleaned Media Cache and reset Premiere audio hardware to 48kHz, no input.

  • Issue occurs across multiple Adobe versions and persists on different machines.

  • Re-wrapping with third-party tools (e.g., Shutter Encoder, ffmpeg) does resolve the audio problem, confirming an AC-3 decode issue within Adobe tools.

System Info:

  • Windows 11, up-to-date

  • Adobe Premiere Pro 2025

  • Adobe Media Encoder 25.3, 24.6.5

  • Sony PXW-X70 camera (AVCHD, AC-3 audio)

Conclusion:
This appears to be a bug or missing AC-3 decoding support in recent Adobe builds, affecting AVCHD .MTS files from the Sony PXW-X70 and likely other cameras. Many users with similar workflows may be affected. Temporary workaround is to use Shutter Encoder or ffmpeg to transcode the .MTS files before editing in Adobe apps.

Request:
Please investigate the AC-3/AVCHD import and transcoding workflow in Premiere Pro and Media Encoder 2025, and restore proper audio decoding for affected users.
