Multi Cam Colour Grade not carrying over to sequence

Morning all,

I'm fairly experienced in creating muticam sequences, but this one has be baffled.

I create a mutlicam by selecting all the clips in a bin and right clicking and selecting multicam. When the file has been made, i open the file in the Time Line.

At this point i apply my color correction and grade in adjustment layers and tweak each clip accordingly.

I then right click on the file in the project bin and create a new sequence from clip. In the hundred of times I’ve done this my color grade always carries over to the new sequence and I’m able to go back into the multicam file and make further adjustments which are then carried over to the sequences.

However since the update this has not been the case. My colour grades are not carrying over when i create a new sequence. No matter how many times i try it, it doesn't work.

I've checked that both sequences are in the same colour space. The colour management in the project settings are set to 300 HDR and Tetrahadral on 3d Lut (not that I think that makes any difference in this instance).

I've attached a few screen shots to help. 1 from the multicam with colour grade, and 1 from the sequence created from the multicam which should have the grade on but doesn't... Any ideas without having to apply the grade to the Final Sequence and source clips?

1. Color Graded Multicam

2. Sequence made from Mulitcam

Thanks all.

Daimo.

Correct answer @30_Sumat

OK so it would appear the problem is me not understanding the way multicam nests.

The reason this has worked for me in the past is because I place presets onto the actual footage clips once i've made the multicam. I don't usually use additional ajustment layers.

If you add ajustment layers to the multicam sequence before you make the final sequence, the software thinks they are additional camera angles, and does not apply them to the clips. Makes sense when you think of it.

Thanks for your interest and hope this 2 day exploration helps someone else.

That looks by name to be two different sequences. That AL is on the Sequence, not the multicam clips. So if you opened the multicam clip as a new sequence, the AL would not come along.

Sorry I don't understand you comment.

the names of the clips are different because I created so many sequences trying to resolve it I renamed them. They're definitely linked because if I turn a camera off in the mulitcam sequence it turns off in the main sequence.

The adjustment layers are in the multicam sequence and we're there before I created a new sequence from the muliticam sequence to then go onto select the camera angles.

since the original post I've created the multicam again and added the adjustment layers again and it still doesn't carry through when I create a new sequence.

How are you creating the new sequence?

When you create a sequence from clip from the Project Panel it is referring to the clip in the project panel and not to any of the effects in the timeline. Interesting if this did work for you in the past.

Thanks for the response... Yes it's always worked. How would you suggest achieving overarching Color correction to each camera (not grade) on a multi cam without having to colour correct the source file?

Adobe advise that is is the way to do it.

As it happens we found the issue.

In the project window on the tool bar there is a hidden "FX" button that needs to be switched on. So you have to add it to you tool bar as it's not default and switch it on. In the update this defaults to "off" for some reason. An Adobe agent and I have just spent 3 hours trying to problem solve the issue.

Scrap that... it didn't fix it.. the tech guy on the support chat just turned off the global effects so the color grade didn't show on either... back to square one 😞
