MULTI-CAM
Can someone explain the work-flow for Multi-cam mode in Premiere 2023?
Can someone explain the work-flow for Multi-cam mode in Premiere 2023?
I'll try to describe what I'm experiencing. If I load a mulitcam sequence into the source side, and cut onto a timeline, multiple clips appear on the timeline, both audio and video. In the past, one clip would appear on the timline, which would result in a neat timeline with only one video and audio track for that clip. On the timeline in the program monitor, I was able to toggle video angles while in multicam mode. Now, because indivdual clips are editing onto the timeline, multicam mode in the program monitor has no effect.
If I create a sequence from a multicam sequence, it works as I am used to - one video track, all accesable through multicam mode on the program side. That workflow requires cut/paste into another timeline, which is clumsy and if I need to match frame - it won't work, because then I'm back to the problem above.
Please let me know what I'm doing wrong/missing here - Thank you!
Check the "nest or not" icon on the Timeline panel's header block. That might at times be an issue.
And I will say that one time I'll go to work in a multicam, I get all cams loaded into the Program monitor and cuts easily. Another time I bring it up ... I get one cam only. The others are blank. Close relaunch, and they're back. I have to say I haven't figured that one out yet.
And there can be quite the difference between dragging a multicam clip/sequence to a blank timeline, and Opening the same thing in a timeline from the Project panel. And back about 2017, I was having so much trouble with the multicam in one project I had to start a new project to get it sorted.
Look up anything you can find from Jarle Leirpoll on Premiere multicam work. He "hangs" here at times, and realistically is the most useful person I know for information on how to just get it done. He was the primary writer for their new pdf on 'long-form' which is actually just the best how-to setup Premiere around. And he added to the multicam stuff on his blog.
