Multi camera feature

I am using the multicamera feature for the first time. My unerstanding is that each time you click on a different screen (for each of the 3 cameras) it is meant to automatically put a cut in the film, but this isn't happening. Any thoughts? It is also slow and jittery even though I have upgraded my computer with a new top end graphics, more RAM etc. The computer has been built to edit films. Many thanks
