Multiple Green Screen segments within a video

New Here ,

I've been putting videos together on IMovie. Recently, I filmed something that has multiple Green Screen Elements (different scenes/different backgrounds). If I drop one green screen shot against a background and then add another, the first green screen shot disappears. Apparently, only one green screen shot can survive.

I was told that Premiere may alleviate the multiple green screen issue. Is that true. How simple is it to do?

I'm going to buy it, if I can do what I need to do with it.

Help and suggestions for mulitple green screens greatly appreciated!

Hello,

I'm not quite sure what's going on iMovie, but it sounds like you want to be able to composite several shots that have been keyed out (green screen) on top of a background. That's totally possible in Premiere and it will not make anything disappear like that. Just put each shot on it's own track above the background.

Thank-you, Weirdsmobile! And thanks for interpreting what I was trying to say. I'm a 59 year-old novice who is trying to run before learning how to walk, since this is an ambitious project and it is my first time playing around with green screen in the first place. I didn't have the right words to describe what I was trying to accomplish! I guess I am buying premiere! 🙂

Happy to help!

I made the leap to filmmaking from a different career myself; I think anyone can do it as long as they put in the time to learn the tools and techniques!

I think you'll enjoy Premiere once you learn the basics; make sure to start with some of the beginner tutorials and maybe check out some classes in your area as well if you feel stuck. Be aware that it is very different from iMovie. That program is very stripped-down and basic, and while it keeps things simple it also keeps you from having fine control over your projects (as you've seen yourself). Premiere gives you total control, but the plethora of options at first glance might be a little intimidating.
