Question

MXF files showing up as "Zero Bytes"

Hello,

Recently the company I work for was rehired to re-edit an old video we did a few years back. When I booted up the project (I've never opened it as it is from before I started), I noticed that some of the MXF files where showing up as "zero bytes" and were unable to be played or brought into Premiere. I thought this may have been an issue with the file transfer I did to bring it from storage on to our main editing bay, but the original project on the storage drive also shows these files as zero bytes. I have never seen this issue and very confused to how this happened.

Is it possible to recover these files? I researched online and found a couple people saying that they were able to send the drive to a data recovery service who fully recovered their MXF files. I have the proxy media as well so I can tell which clips are missing. What is the best solution to this issue? Has anyone encountered this? I would appreciate any input. Thanks.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
