My music video get's mushy when uploaded to Youtube. How to fix it?

Recently I edited and made a music video for a friend and I know there's tons of effects and layers on colorgrades and so on, but when I upload the video to youtube it get's mushy and looks dirt poor. When I view it on my computer it looks crisp and sharp. I've tried different bitrates and so on when exporting, but Youtube seems to break it down anyways... Any suggestions to what I'm doing wrong?

It looks fine to me when viewing on YT at 4k. are your YT settings set to auto? it might be a connection thing

      Well thanks, maybe I do have my settings on auto because I did not have this problem before. Thanks for good advice! Will definetly look into my settings and consider using CineForm as the encoder

      You don´t mention how you do when you export today but i assume that you export as H.264. For best quality, export using the QuickTime exporter and choose the GoPro CineForm. The file will be larger but the quality on YouTube will be great assuming that you are using correct frame size and frame rate upon export.

        You need a very good internet connection because it takes a hell of a time to upload and process. And no guarantees.

        The guarantee is 100% good quality on YouTube if you upload video with good quality compared to uploading H.264 that will be re-encoded once again. I haven´t uploaded H.264 for years.

         

        Since it´s year 2020 i assume that more people have some sort of fast internet connection today than we had 10-15 years ago. If not, it´s a good chance that a friend has and then a copy on a USB stick comes in handy. No matter what, i think it is worth mention that using another codec such as CineForm, etc, etc is an option for those quality issues. We have pretty good internet connection in Scandinavia. 🙂

          If it looks fine on your computer and does not look good on Youtube you need to complain to Youtube.

          Youtube converts your video on upload, nothing you can do about, end of story.
