New captions vertical position limitation

Hi, so i was happy to hear about the overhauled subtitle interface in premiere as i have been doing them in Resolve on top of an exported master. Unfortunately i just ran into a limitation in premiere that does not exist in resolve.

its seems that there is a vertical position limitation to how far down i can place the subtitles. in most cases i dont place them so low, but i have a client who specifically needs it to be at the lowest part of the video with a very small margin.

Under the Align and Transform there is the 'Zone' which i have on the bottom center, and the the vertical limitation number is it 0. the number can only be taken into the minus which moves it up, but won't move any further down than 0, which still leave a gap and is not an absolut 0 to the bottom of the video.

Does anyone know if i am missing something or if there is a workaround?

If not, maybe the adobe team can take this into account.

The old workaround for this was to apply positioning from the effect controls. But this no longer works since the caption track is not a video track.

For a new workaround, see "To Adjust Caption Track Position" in this post:

I am still having issues with this in most recent update. We are in 2025. Is this not fixed?

See my 1/24/23 update to the main feature request thread on this topic:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-ideas/move-captions-to-the-bottom-of-the-screen/idc-p/13526004#M7276

And my 12/6/24 update after that:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-ideas/move-captions-to-the-bottom-of-the-screen/idc-p/15023213#M17983

There are not many people RECENTLY asking for this. When ported from uservoice 1/24/23, there were 146 votes. Almost 2 years later, there are only 15 more - 161. a) I suspect that so many users want animation, this limited request to move captions to the bottom is no longer as high a priority. b) Caption to graphic was a game changer. c) There are workarounds if you really want to go below 5% safe margin.

Awesome, this will do for now. Hopefully they will address this soon and unlock full customization. shouldnt be too hard considering todays technology and all the AI stuff their into is way more advanced then a few subtitle options. dont even know why this is restricted to begin with.

Thanks a bunch for the reply! 🙂
