New Install - System Incompatibility with NVIDIA GeForce GT730

So, I just downloaded the trial version of Premiere Pro. Upon launching I get an incompatibility with GeForce GT 730 message. Really? I have a 3 yr old desktop with probalby the most popular video card manufacturers in the world and the app is incompatible?!? Is this a serious as it sounds? When I follow the instruction to I guess install or update the driver, it says there is no Studio version of that driver. I'm hoping something unusally simple is going on here. I just can't fathom this kind of incompatibiliy... unless this softare is designed for some higher end users with much more sophisticated gear. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

hi i am using i5 7th gen desktop , 16 gb ram , now i purchased NDVIA GETFORCE  GT 730 , Graphic card  i am getting error and it say its not suppotable for 2020 premier pro can help me

How many CUDA cores does your GT 730 have? 96? 384?

 

If your GT 730 is of the 96 CUDA core variant, then you have a re-branded GeForce GT 430, a GPU that dated back over 10 years now. All support for that particular GPU has completely ended back in 2018. Neither Nvidia nor Adobe will ever fix that.

 

If your GT 730 is of the 384 CUDA core variant, it may still not be supported any more in newer versions of Premiere Pro. This is because the last driver version that had the CUDA support for GPUs with Compute Capability version number 3.5 or 5.0 not depreciated was a 43x.xx-series driver version, which is now too old for Premiere Pro 14.3.2 or later. Beginning with the 44x.xx driver versions, these older GPUs have been depreciated. And Premiere Pro now requires driver version 451.77 or higher.

 

In other words, driver version 457.09 (the most recent mainstream Game Ready Driver) will install on the 384-core GT 730, but CUDA compatibility will be locked to 431.86-driver-level. (Specifically, the newest versions of Premiere Pro require CUDA 10.2 or higher to run properly, but the second-gen Kepler GPUs such as the one in the 384-core versions of the GT 730 are locked to CUDA 10.1 level even if the driver itself includes CUDA 11.) This will trigger the compatibility warning.

I just purchased top speced MIcrosoft Surface Book 2 and had same issue with driver

Brand new laptop + latest version of PP

You might still have driver version 388.13 installed in that laptop. Even if you use only Windows Update to update that NVIDIA driver, that Microsoft-provided driver should have been updated to 432.00 as of the 1909 version of Windows 10.

    That GPU is long ago. I had a 700 series card before the 970 which I dumped 2 or more years ago. The 700 series were released in the spring of 2013.

     

    Six years is around three generations in computer gear. Sorry, but that's an ancient bit of once great tech.

    Oh boy! I guess I am out of touch with such specifics. I'm obvoulsy not a graphics heavy user. Thanks for the feedback! Fortuately, I figured out how to do what I need to do with the other main app I'm using. I did proceed to where I loaded a video into Premiere and it might be able to limp and do what I want but the GUI is more than I have time to figure out at the moment.

    As Neil told you, you might have the version of the GT 730 that actually dates way back to the days of the old GT 430 from 2010; in fact, your 730 is probably a rebadged 430. As such, NVIDIA had EOL'd all driver support for the Fermi GPUs back in 2018, with the very last driver supporting Fermi (391.35) released way back in March of that year. However, Premiere Pro 2020 now requires a driver version higher than 430 (which is completely incompatible with your GPU) just to even be supported in Premiere Pro 2020 for GPU acceleration at all.

     

    To determine whether you have the Fermi or Kepler variant of the GT 730, download and install/run GPU-Z. If the GPU reads "GF108" and the CUDA cores read "96," then you have a GT 730 that's a rebadged GT 430. The more desirable variant of the GT 730 should have "GK208" and "384" for the GPU and the CUDA cores, respectively.

     

    Whew! And I had many times in the past advised everyone against the 128-bit versions of the GT 730, which used a much older GPU than the 64-bit versions of that GPU model.
