I am trying to crop an image in the left top window. I know I have to use the transform option, but I cannot find it. When I do finally get a video drop down, it only includes a few options: motion, opacity and time remapping. I've seen the list with the transform option before, so I know it's there somewhere, but I don't know how I conjured it up. All the videos I watch on this topic presuppose that I can find the transform option, so help finding it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Open Premiere and hit the LEARN button.
You need to understand the interface first before being able to edit or use any of its tools.
Effects window is as said a window or panel and not a workspace.

Might be watching older or wrong vidoes. You must pay attention to the build used in those videos.
Transform or the Transform effect does not crop.
Go to the Effects window (not Effect Controls)
type in Crop in the search and drop the effect on your clip.
Now you can crop the clip in the Effect Controls.

Guess my next question is, how do I get to the effects window? When I double click on "effects" in the bar (between "color" and "audio"), I see no search option appear. It just tells me to confirm workspace reset.

Guess I figured it out. What confused me is that the "effects panel" appears to be a fifth panel, whereas the Adobe introduction I watched only referred to four panels, not including the effects panel. On the fifth (effects) panel, I do indeed see a drop down that has "crop" under "transform." Thanks.
