Question

No Hardware Acceleration At All

So, I have the latest version of Adobe Premiere pro.

I have the latest Nvidia Drivers 430.86.

Latest windows Updated 1903

My specs are Intel Xeon 2186M

32gb Ram

Nvidia P4200 Quadro

It's not even using the intel quicksync tech that's on this chipset that it used to.

I can manually select hardware on export, but if I choose an option that turns off hardware export (like VBR 2) then it says this hardware doesn't support hardware acceleration.

I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, both the drivers (different versions) and different versions of Adobe Premiere Pro. It has changed nothing.

I've also tried loads of combinations of versions of adobe premiere and nvidia drivers.

It is the only program on my computer that has issues using the hardware. The only one.

I have reset all the settings on Premiere pro. I'm at my end here. It's either I get this fixed, or I'm going to be buying another program, I don't mean to come off as harsh.. it's just that this program always has issues with something. Something always breaks, causes it to crash. Causes it to lose a key hardware feature, and I just don't get it.

Any ideas?

Is it the latest windows update? How would that even be? it hasn't change the driver interface nor has it changed how the UI is drawn on screen.. and that is all hardware accelerated.

I just don't get it.

*Edit*

I also disabled the switchable graphics and ran straight off the Nvidia card. Still no hardware acceleration. Again, every other program runs fine with it.

*Edit2*

The only thing I can think of is the latest Windows update somehow causing it.. but it's only this program. Are there any QA testers for the latest version of windows?

So are you complaining about GPU use or QuickSync use? They're quite different.

GPU use in Premiere is limited to the things on the GPU Accelerated Effects list, such as color correction and Warp Stabilizer. It will also be used if there is major resizing involved. For general renders/exports without the above the GPU doesn't do much.

QuikSync is of course only used for H.264 long-GOP exports.

If those aren't working under those circumstances, please give some more information.

Yes... they are different... and I was saying neither was working on any type of export. I was also saying that the system was telling me that hardware accelerated exported was not supported, but I was just using pre-update with no issues at all.

I really don't know how else I can explain it.

It was working, now it isn't.

When I used to be able to play back video in the timeline with no lag at all, and now it stutters all over the place.. that's an issue.

It's not even engaging the hardware from what I can tell. The Nvidia card just sits at zero percent most of the time, then randomly going to 2%.. but never engaging during any type of timeline playback or export.

Also, yes I know there are some things it won't accelerate (bad design, by the way), however, I was getting a lot more acceleration than I am now (read, zero).

I'm thinking it has to be something with the latest windows update. As I have installed several reverted versions of Adobe and Nvidia drivers.

It's just odd that ONLY THIS PROGRAM is affected. Of course, given how buggy this thing is. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

That does sound like maybe Windows done did ya. I know they delayed this update as earlier testing revealed it was devastating to many "professional users" from their own comments.

So first they held it back for additional testing, then are doing a slow rollout adding only a "few" users per day.

Whether it's the OS or Premiere that's painful.
