Question

Non hdr iPhone footage export not working

At this point I turned the HDR settings on my iPhone off. Excited, I imported the videos into premiere pro today for my project and got even more excited when the colors were finally accurately depicted. Yay! Right? That's what I thought too. Then it comes to exporting. And boom, the video, once exported is blown out, desaturated, and the colors are bleh.

How do I fix this? 😭 I tried matching source, etc. and nothing works

Are you on a Mac? If so, do try to set the Preferences option for Display Color Management to on, and recheck this.

Just trying to get more details answered.

Just exported the video and it still looks way washed out, as well as when it is when I import it back into premiere pro.

There could be a couple different things here, so I've got a few questions.

First, are you using the standard export presets, the ones that do not have HLG or PQ in the preset names? Just to make sure.

Second, if you bring the exported media back into Premiere, what does it look like?

As if it looks the same as the sequence when brought back, then the problem is something in your monitor setup. If it looks different when brought back, then there's something wrong with the export settings.

Thank you for being willing to figure this out with me, means a lot. Here are screenshots of my sequence settings, export settings, and project settings. As you had suggested, I did try to bring back the exported version into the sequence and compared to the sequence in the timeline, it's darker.

Thank you so much.

Thank you for your help but I am unsure as to how these apply to my situation here? My sequence settings are in rec 709 and so are the export settings. The timeline shows the colors correctly, it is when I export it that the exported version from my non hdr iPhone footage does not match the video in my timeline
