Is there a kind of Notepad in Premiere Pro where you can write text notes for the current project?

Yea, postnotes is gone it seems.

You can open the Windows "Notepad" utility text app, drag/drop that onto your project panel, and it will work. You can open, add/change things in your note. But ... note! (ha) ... you have to delete the notepad from your project if you want to use the Project manager for consolidation/archiving.

I know this is an old thread but I personally didn't find the suggestions here useful.

What did work for me was the "Markers panel".

You firstly add the markers to the timeline, and then have the markers panel open to the left or right of your screen and you can write multiple notes over different markers at the same time.

In my opinion this is much better than what was suggested (for me anyway) because it's much clearer and you can navigate quicker. Thanks.

I use the audio plugin bundle from MeldaProductions,
which includes a NotePad that you can add as a plugin on any audio channel.
https://www.meldaproduction.com/MFreeFXBundle
Windows and Mac compatible.

Opening the plugin will keep the window open for you to use when you need it.

Note: Alt+Return to create a new line. 🙂

The bonus is that you get a whole bundle of audio plugins for free as well.
I use them in my recording studio. They are great. Totally worth purchasing

to support the company to make more. 🙂

Just adding some notes about using the plugin inside Adobe Premiere.
You HAVE to use the "Backspace" button and the "Delete" button inside the plugin to delete text.
You CANNOT use the 'Backspace" and "Delete" keys on your keyboard as they are Premiere controls.

You HAVE to click with the mouse where you want to add more text.
You CANNOT use the arrow keys on the keyboard as they are Premiere controls.

Not sure if anyone is still looking, but we just released a V2 of Post Notes: https://postnotes.app

Figured it was time to bring it back. We also have it working for After Effects now too.

Clearly, I didn't see other people just posted about it. Whoops. Sorry for the double post on it. Anyway, hope you enjoy using it!

Post Notes 2 for PrPro & AAE is now available for Mac and PC. This is a completely rewritten version of the original program, fresh off the press. Now includes To Do list and ability to link to a specific timecode point (in PrPro only).

Post Notes is back with Post Notes 2! It's said to work for Premiere Pro and After Effects. The updated app includes TimeCode stamping in Premiere Pro with clickable timecode links in the notes. More information available at: postnotes.app!

Hey Saa4, great question! Lots of good suggestions here. To create notes in Premiere, determine if you want your notes to be on the clips in the timeline or if you'd like them to sit in the project panel. I would use @mgrenadier's suggestion for clips in the timeline, @Stan's idea for keeping the notes stored all in one place.

What are you talking? Can you please explain steps how can i do that? Premiere wont allow docking external app.

You don't 'dock' the Notepad app. Save a Notepad comment to disc. Open Explorer, drag/drop that file into the Project panel.

There was postnotes which was an amazing extension, but i'm not sure what's happened.

Postnotes.io doesn't seem to be live anymore

Post Notes moved to a new location, and has a new version as of late last year.

There are several text fields in the metadata display in the Project Panel. (Description, Log note, Scene, etc) I used description a lot to track clip info.

don't think so, but you can add markers to clips or sequences which is what I usually do for specific notes.  I also usually create a google doc and share it with my client so all notes, info, etc are readily available without having to search thru 1000 emails.
