Hi. I use nvidia geforce rtx 3060 ti. But if I choose Hardware in performance setting,

"Your system's hardware does not support hardware acceleration for the current settings"

How can I fix it?

Please help~

There are two different kinds of 'hardware' or 'software' encoding.

The first is H.264, the long-GOP formats that cut down file size dramatically by only recording a few actual frames every so often, and in between, data sets of pixels that 1) will change before next full frame 2) have changed since last full frame or 3) both.  Thus requiring the computer to do a TON of computational work because to display one frame, it may need to decode/compute and store 30 or more other frames.

That sort of hardware/software question heavily relies on your CPU and whether it has an iGPU for handling H.264/5 encoding/decoding. @RjL190365 is the 'resident expert' for those things.

And as Ann properly notes, hardware encoding is only available for VBR 1-pass settings. No app and hardware do hardware encoding with 2-pass H.264 encoding. Period.

The second form of hardware/software usage does involve your GPU directly, but ... it's all about what effects are used on the clips.

If you have resizing, or say, color and or tonal changes, then the GPU will be hit, perhaps very hard. If you don't have any color/tonal or resizing things going on, then it will be a CPU job.

So ... you have Warp, Lumetri, size changes? You get a lot of GPU work.

You don't ... you don't get much GPU involvement.

Everyone's mileage always varies ...

The card does not support vbr2 if that is what you are trying to use.

Only vbr1 and cbr.

Hi there,

Thanks for writing in.

Are you referring to the Encoding Settings in Export Settings? What's the version of the GPU driver? Try installing the latest Studio driver if you're on Game Ready drivers.

Let us know the outcome.

NOTE: Moving the thread to the Premiere Pro forum.

Thanks,

Nishu

Do you use the lastest version of the graphic card driver?
