I just got a brand new ASUS to speed up my editing process, but Premiere is lagging terrible when trying to preview evenlow res footage.
What can I do to fix the problem?

Graphic card: NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU

Version 546.33
Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900H 2.60 GHz
RAM-minne 32,0 GB
Windows 11 Business
OS version: 22631.3155

Regarding premiere, I was using the latest version, but also previous versions such as the 23.6.0
and the problem persists. What can I do?

Those mov are quite possibly still long-GOP.

Thank you for your reply, I have tried using various footage, but the lagging continues, even with .mov files I shot opn my old iphone...

The problem with lagging is actually probably not a GPU driver issue.

So what's the original media, and what is your "low res" footage?

Many systems will struggle far more with H.264 long-GOP stuff ... much of the mp4 media ... due to the rather nasty computing mess that is to decode. Just for information.

So some systems that handle two tracks of 6K RED choke on one track of UHD H.264.

Thank you so much for your quick reply, I tried installing version 516.94 that was recommended in other threads but without luck. The problem persists. Should I also use an older verision of Premiere to make it more compatible? Or rather, is there a version of Premiere that will run smoother with this particular driver?
Thank you again for all your help!

If you are on the latest Nvidia driver, it's a mess. Roll back a driver from their site. Use only Studio drivers, skip the "experience" thing, and select the option for a clean install. Reboot.
