Question

older version (2015) davinci resolve output files not readable in premiere pro CC v.22.0.0

I am working with some .mov files created in Davinci Resolve in 2015 that are now in a premiere pro CC v.22.0.0 timeline/project.  The files show either a color bar screen or pixelated images in premiere but are ungraded and viewable in QT.  I tried off-lining in premiere and re-linking with same results. Do I need to transcode the files and regrade them or is there another way to use them as they are now?

What codec (compressor) are they?  In quicktime player, just load the file and hit command-i to get info...

Also, I know sometimes old video files do not have a file extension in their file name.  I've had issues where dv movs exported from an early version of fcp would not open in premiere, but if I added .mov to the file name, they would import...  probably a long shot, but I've learned sometime's it useful to just say it out loud.

Can you use resolve to transcode to something more premiere friendly like prores (if you're on a mac) or something similar in the windows world

Hi Nohochman,

If it were me, I'd get those files up to a more current file format. For that, I'd first update Resolve (there is a security issue in older versions - we just heard about this), once it is current, open the project files in the new version - then attempt a migration to current Premiere Pro software.

Let us know if that works.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hey Kevin,

I downloaded the latest Resolve, opened and saved the files.  Still no luck when I reattach the new files in Premiere. Any other ideas?  I made old after effects comps work with dymanic link.
