Opacity/masks not translating in Essential Graphics

Hello! I'm creating a few Essential Graphics templates in After Effects that, for subtitles, have a black bar with a feathered mask/low opacity behind them to make the subtitles pop. However, whenever I export the .mogrt file the feathered black object doesn't show up in Premiere? I even tried a workaround by creating a blown out drop shadow on the text to simulate the effect... but no luck.

Has anyone had similar problems, or know of a fix?
