Open Captions Tiempos Text Font won't display right - shows default

Explorer ,
Apr 13, 2018 Apr 13, 2018

I have a friend with a Mac, I use a PC.  For him the Tiempos Text Medium font displays correctly in the open captions in Premiere.  On my Windows 10 PC however, the font always displays the default when I select the Tiempos font from my drop down options.  We both have the license to the font.  I can choose other fonts no problem and the open captions will easily change to those fonts.  Does anyone know why this font might work on a Mac, but not a PC?

Thanks in advance

This font does display correctly BTW if I add it as regular text to the project, it is only in the open caption that the font will not display correctly.

Hi,

Likely to do with the following:

  • Windows can use OpenType, Windows Type1 and Windows TrueType fonts.
  • Windows cannot directly read Mac TrueType or Mac Type1 fonts.
Macintosh can use OpenType, Mac Type1, Mac TrueType, and Win TrueType.
  • Adobe products can read some Windows Type 1 fonts if installed in the correct folder.

Thanks,
Kevin

Thanks Kevin & I understand your answer, but the part that still makes no sense, and I hope you can help, is that the font DOES display correctly in Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, etc. projects. It is ONLY in the Open Captions that it does not.   Does the Open Captions use the OS capabilities and the regular program use Adobe's enhanced abilities for font handling?

Also you mentioned "If the font is installed in the correct folder".  Can you define that please?  My fonts are all installed in the standard Windows > Fonts folder.  I never knew of any other locations for fonts on PC.

Thanks again!

Dan
