Open Sans Bold not showing in Premiere Pro 25.0.0 (Build 61)

In this particular version of the Premiere Pro I'm unable to use Open Sans Bold font on any text.

The font variant is not showing on the drop down list of available fonts.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create text object in sequence,
  2. Try to find Opens Sans Bold font varian in Properties window.

What should have happen:

Opens Sans Bold font should be listed in the dropdown so it can be applied to a text.

What's actually happening:

All other variants of the font are listed (Bold Italic, Italic, Semi Bold etc) but the Bold itself.

- The issue is not happening in Premiere Pro 2024 or other Adobe products (2024 or 2025) only in Premiere Pro 2025.

- I've cleaned Media Cache, I've cleaned windows font cache, I've reinstalled Premiere Pro 2025 all without success,

 - The issue is happening regardless of whether I install Open Sans fonts from Adobe Fonts or Google Fonts or any other source.

- Encountered the issue on 2 workstations out of 7 I tested it on.

Attached are images from Premiere Pro 2024 and 2025 on the same Windows 10 Pro computer.

No plugins installed, these are fresh installations of Windows and Premiere Pro.

I would appreciate any ideas I can try to tackle this issue.

It was awhile back, but I had an issue that I couldn't solve, so I got a new drive and installed Windows, and every time I added something to it, I checked the problem. When I was almost done, and giving up on finding it, I installed a printer driver, and boom, there was the problem. So, some of us go thru that at times.

Hi all,

I have since re-installed Windows on both affected machines where the issue occurred and as of now, I’m no longer able reproduce the error.

While this did not let me find an exact reason why the problem occurred in the first place it was the action, I had to resort to due to pressing deadlines.

Unfortunately, I had no chance test whether deleting C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro

would solve the problem.

Few more things I can say about the scenario I was in:

  • Both computers were new Windows installations.
  • After installing Premiere Pro 2025 (fresh installation, not an upgrade) I opened a project (originally created in Premiere Pro 2024) that had text elements with Open Sans (including Open Sans Bold) fonts in them.
  • After app’s complain that Open Sans font is not in the system (since this was fresh install of OS and Premiere), I proceeded to install the font from Adobe Fonts.
  • From there all fonts were recognised except Open Sans Bold and the whole fun of my trying to figure this out started and hence this thread happened.

If I encounter this problem again (and I have a feeling that I will) I will report back here again.

Hi NightArt, I can confirm thar I am currently this exact issue with a locally installed Open Sans variable font pack. It seems ridiculous that your resolution was a complete re-install of Windows.

I can however confirm that deleting C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro does not solve the problem.

Hi @NightArt -

"If I remove the fonts from Windows/Fonts and install them from Adobe Fonts the font is showing in Adobe CC App."

It sounds like there is a conflict on your system for the font you installed locally and within the Adobe Apps.

I'm glad you are able to access the font you need within Adobe CC!

Where did you download the font from?

I'm sorry @jamieclarke but your every reply misses my points raised and missrepresents everything I'm saying above.

No matter how clear I try to explain the problem you always find a way to twist it in a totally illogical way to fit your narrative.  This is of no help at all and I have hard time figuring out the purpose of you doing it.  You getting points for it or something?

I said it several times now that the problem is very very specically with the 2025 version of the Premiere Pro and other versions of the Premiere Pro have no this problem as well as other Adobe apps don't have this problem. Only Premiere Pro 2025 has this problem. And I still didn't find a way to solve it.

You said "there is a onflict on your system for the font you installed locally and within the Adobe Apps.  " when I clearly stated that I ensured that such conflict does not take place: "I remove the fonts from Windows/Fonts and install them from Adobe Fonts".

I'm able to use it on Beta 25.2 b24 and release 25.0, Win11 23H2

Hi Jamie,

I did all that. The font is showing in every other software (from Adobe or any other vendor) but not on two machines in Premiere Pro 25.0.0.

If I install the font manually (i.e. by manually downloading from Google Fonts and installing it in Windows) the font is showing Windows/Fonts:

If I remove the fonts from Windows/Fonts and install them from Adobe Fonts the font is showing in Adobe CC App.

In either case the issue the same. The Open Sans Bold doesn't show in Premiere Pro 25.0.0 but shows in 2024 version (see screens from my first post) and every other app.

Hi @NightArt - Please see this article How to Install fonts in Adobe

You can also view the fonts installed on your computer by going to C:\Windows\Fonts

My bad, must have in a rush clicked on About After Effects instead of Abourt Premiere Pro.

The correct version where the issues is happening is Premiere Pro 25.0.0 (Build 61). It appears there is no option to edit my post.

Pretty sure all answers are in my post already but to reitearate:

- This is on Windows 10 Pro,

- not a beta,
- I tried reinstalling from Adobe Font, Google Fonts and copied physical copy of the font from other PC (always installed them clean, never from two sources at the same time).

- In the process I closed and restarted PP and PC several times,

- I also reinstalled PP (two times now).

- Glad it shows like that for you but it's not how it show for me (on 2 out of 7 PCs) and I run of ideas what else I can do.

Hi @NightArt - Are you working on mac or windows?  Are you working in a beta build?  There is currently not a 25.0.1 build 2.  Are you using fonts from Adobe Fonts?  This is how it shows up for me

Can you try closing Premiere Pro and reinstalling the font.
