I've run into an odd issue with the overlays and an extrenal monitor.
When overlays are turned on - and it does not matter what it is displaying or where, they playback perfectly fine within the program monitor, but on my external monitor, only the overlays playback, while the video goes black.
Working on an M1 Max MacBook Pro 16" running Premiere 2023.6.7. Mac OS Ventura 13.6.
My monitor setup as follows:
External Monitor with the issue is a TV plugged into a OWC Thunderbolt Hub using an HDMI-Thunderbolt adapter.
Other monitors and peripherals:
- BenQ 4k monitor plugge4d directly in via HDMI input
- LG sub-HD monitor using a VGA adapter plugged into another thunderbolt input
- Apple full length keyboard connected to hub via usb3 to lightning
- Wacom sm pen tablet connected to Hubb using USB
- M-Audio Air I/O device connected to hub via usb3
I also have a couple SSDs plugged into the computer either through the main inputs or via the OWC Hub.
I've tried swapping which monitor is doing external playback - does not make a difference. I've tried changing inputs so the TV goes directly into the computer and not through the hub - no difference.
It has also happened on a separate set-up with separate monitors at my office, which to me indicates its either a hardware or software issue.
I am using Premiere Productions, and it occurs on multiple projects and sequences.
I will try using a different version of Premiere to see if the issue persists on other builds.
If anyone else has had similar issues, let me know!
See screenshots for overlays settings.
Hi @JoshG_Edits_TM - This is a known issue and has been fixed in version 24.1

Thank you! I did test out the project and some other projects in 2024 and did not see the issue. Nor did I see the same issue in 2022.
I have a workaround as I need to be using 2023 for this project, but good to know it's not persistent in future versions.
