P: Can't Nest Clips That Use Morph Cut

PP 202 & 2021 won't let me nest clips that use Morph Cut Transition effect. Crashes everytime. Very frustrating and Adobe needs to fix this. I thought the update might help but nope.

So here's the work around that worked for me: Nest your clips first, then go back into the clips after nested and add morph transition.

What are your system specs and media formats? Sequence settings?

Weirdly, I tried to do this in a sandbox project and it crashed for me too. Then when I tried again, it worked. It hasn't done it again though, and I have yet to replicate it.

You better look for things on your end. I can't make it happen here. People want to think Adobe needs to fix this or that... but that just puts you in a holding pattern, you're best off looking for a way to fix what's on your end, and tweak your workflow if nothing else works.

Did you clear your cache before you upgraded or recently? Clear your preferences, reset your Workspace, etc...

Here's the cache instructions:

• Start PP from it's normal desktop icon (IE: don't open from a project file link).
Close the Open/Home screen (and you will be in PP without a project open).
• Go into Edit/Preferences/Media Cache (Mac users adjust menu name)
• Then Press: Remove Media Cache Files: and Delete...
• Select: Delete all media cache files from the system and OK
Close PP - It will create any needed cache files on the fly as you edit.

The morph cut effect is preventing nesting of clips in Premier Pro CC 2017 (11.1.1). This did not seem to be an issue on previous version of Premier.

If I have a morph cut effect in a series of clips and I select them and try to nest them, it will bring up the box where I can name the nest. I usually don't name it so it will be called "Nested Sequence xx" (xx is the next number in the sequence of nests. Then I hit "Ok" and it does no give an error. However, the series is not nested. And Nested Sequence xx is not in the Project List.

I found out it was the morph cut effect that was stopping it by removing the effect and tying to nest it again, and it worked. I have seen this issue in several projects with different video clips.

I cannot reproduce the issue on Windows.

Make a new sequence and copy everything over or

Make a new project and import the old one in.

See if that will make any difference.
