Question

Painful audio peaks while scrubbing and clicking through timeline

So I've encountered the problem numerous times now. When scrubbing through the timeline, sometimes there is a super loud static sound like a radio, which blasts through the headphones and is extremely painful for my ears.

I've checked the clips, and it doesn't show up in the audio track of the clips, once I stop the playback and continue it's gone. I know it's not the system, since my colleague had the same problem on a completely different system with a different project.
So, I would just appreciate any tips, if there are any, to avoid it. Since my ears a ringing for a couple of minutes afterward.

Hi @apc-marlo and @Highdeny,

I hope you are well. We requested more info for developers to reproduce the bug, but we didn't hear back. Are you still experiencing this issue? Let the developers know. I'll move your thread to the "Discussions" forum while we await a response. Sorry for the problem.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hello Kevin,
sorry for the late reply.
So this bug happened to several of our editors in our office seemingly at random. It has happened while scrolling through raw footage just after importing, as well as scrolling through clips on the timeline with audio effects added to them. It happens very rarely. Once every 2 months maybe and in completely different projects too.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro version number: It happened on several different versions of Premiere Pro. Last time on 23.2.1
  • Operating system - Windows 11 Pro
  • System Info:
    CPU: Intel Core i9-12900K
    GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080
GPU Driver: GeForce Game Ready-Treiber 560.81
RAM: 64 GB HyperX Fury RGB DDR4-3200
    Storage: WDS500G1X0E-00AFY0
    Video Format: XAVC S 4:2:0 8bit

There isn't really a certain workflow or operation that triggers the bug. It happens while scrubbing through the timeline.

Thank you!

Hello @Highdeny,

Can you provide the team with more information? See, How do I write a bug report? Once the team has your details, they can try to reproduce your problem. Sorry for the frustration.

Thanks,
Kevin

I have the same problem. it comes out of nowhere after scrubbing and then press play (spacebar). When i wait for a second, the next time i press play, its gone. Super random problem, but super annoying for my ears. Maybe it has something to do with buffer size or something with the audio device (realtec in my case).
