Pen tool not working

When I go to use the pen tool to make a opacity mask, I start the mask path and click on the mask and start drawing, the pen tool works in that it creates a mask but I cannot see any of the physical blue lines. How do I fix this issue?

    My monitor size and resolution are already set to the recommended scale. I tried other scales and that did not help.

    Set your monitor in windows to recommended scale, 100% or 150% (I dont mean the magnifier in the Program window).

    Alternative scale the Program window manually.
