PGC "Name" has an error at 00;46;39;16.  The data rate of this file is too high for DVD.  You must replace the file with one of a lower data rate. - PGC info: name = Name, red = Dpgc, time = 00;46;39;16

I got this message originally when I tried to burn my project with encore.  I had exported it from premiere with the mpeg to dvd setting,720x480, quality of minimum 8 bit, target 8.5 bit, max 9bit, clicked render at max bit depth and had audio at 320kbs and multiplexing to dvd.

I put it in encore, everything looked fine and everything was going fine until 00:46:39:04.  It gave that error message, so I went back and rerendered the project with the same settings, but with the video bit rate to min 6, target 7.5, max 8.5.  After waiting my hours for the rerender, I replace the video in encore and get the same bloody message... so I think, maybe it's the audio?  I change the encore settings between PCM, dolby etc, changes nothing.  I reexport the audio from the project at much lower bit rate... 128kbps, same issue.

So I went "okay, what the heck.  I'll just use encore to get rid of the moment that is the issue... whatever".  I trim out about half a second and now I get the same error message just half a second later.

WHAT IS WRONG

>,<

It takes 6-7 hours rendering out my video... I really don't want to just do more trial and error with nothing working.  Can anyone help? 😮

well, it makes no sense, but I just changed the encore project settings to mpeg again and this time it worked......?

I had done this exact same thing already, but this time it worked.  Whatever.  My project is done, so that's good at least.

Encore is not very forgiving. If you were not creating a new project each time, Encore may not have released its cache files etc.

You might also have gotten this message because of a data spike.

Glad you got it to work!

Max bitrate should be 8, best not to "push your luck". Also, do NOT set multiplexing to "DVD" , use the default setting which is NONE. You want to export separate audio and video (.wav and .m2v) files as that is what Encore wants. If you multiplex the output, just means that Encore will need to transcode again!

In other words, choose an MPEG-2 DVD preset, adjust data rate as needed, and leave the rest of encode settings alone usually.

Max Bit Depth not needed. That may be adding to the lengthy encode time.

What is the total duration of the video for the DVD?

Thanks
