Playback Is Stretching Across Two Monitors

I edit in Premiere using 3 monitors. Monitor 1 is exclusively for playback, monitor 2 for the timeline, and monitor 3 for media library/effects/etc.

Within the last few days, just before the most recent update, I'm having issues with my playback monitor stretching onto monitor 2. It happens both while using the app, but also, the full screen can osscassionally  hijack both monitors when Premiere is minimized.

I've restarted program numerous times, restarted computer, set the default playback monitor to monitor 1, but still having this issue. I have also tried setting the default playback monitor to Monitor 2, but the issue persists.

The frustrating thing is it is not ALL of the time, just a lot of the time, so I don't know how to troubleshoot.

It seems to only do this when the playback is changed to Full Screen mode.

Lastly, Premiere is identifying the monitors differently than my computer identifies them. I'm pretty sure this is where the issue lies, but have no idea how to correct:

According to my computer:

Monitor 1: 3840x2160

Monitor 2: 2560x1080

Monitor 3: 1050x1650

According to Premiere:

Monitor 1: 2560x1080

Monitor 2: 3840x2160

Monitor 3: 1050x1650

Does anyone know what I'm up against?

That looks like you've taken every monitor you've had over the last 10 years and have added it to your system. 🙂

I only can think of generic things that might be effecting you. How about Windows Scaling, be sure to set it to 100% for your testing and experimenting. I've only ever used 100% but most 4k monitors are not nearly big enough to be able to work at 100%, which then creates all kinds of issue. Do you have it set like that, and if not, do try it...

I've had issues with just 2 and identical monitors. I did learn you can change Windows recognition of the monitors by changing (assuming DisplayPort) which receptical the monitor is in. So, I have 3 DP ports on my 1070. However, I must admit that when I got things working, I've been afraid to touch them ever since! 🙂

So you might try swaping the plugs around. When you say full screen are you talking about 'Transmit' out? I would suggest a better example frame to show more completely what you are doing. If the app window (I believe is identified by where the project panel is) even by a pixel goes over to the Transmit window, Transmit will not display.

Thanks for the quick response!

I'm unable to switch around the monitors, as the 4K monitor will not work unless it is plugged into port 1. Not sure why that is.

By full screen, I mean maximizing the Program Monitor to full screen. With four monitors plugged in, I get the the following results (images attached). I gave two different images to demonstrate how it is breaking up the program monitor across four screens.

Thanks again for your input!

I tried pluggin in a 4th monitor and it stretched the playback over Monitor 1,2,4, and part of 3!
