Question

Playback - Jump back to last play location

Is there a way to customize playback so that each time I press play or space bar, it returns to the place I played from last? For instance, if I start playback from 1:25 and play until 1:30, I want to simply press the space bar to play again from 1:25. Where can I customize this? I don't want to use markers, selections or any kind permanent marking to do this, as I might want to playback from 1:25 to 1:30 one or two times, and then I might want to playback from 1:26 to 1:30. The purpose is to be able to review quickly what something looks like, or work on the same section of an edit easily. Thanks!

The closest thing I know of to what you want is the Play Around button (Shift + K)

If you activate it by either installing the button on a monitor or using the shortcut Shift+K, it will back the playhead up, play though, stop and return the playhead to the original position without needing any marks to do so. The length of pre-roll and post-roll from the original playhead position is determined in Preferences > Playback:
