Playback Non-Functional, Video Previews Not Loading PP 2025

New Here ,

Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me with an issue I've been having all week. I am trying to edit a video and my playback is not working; everytime I hit the play button, there's a 30 second lag until the video starts playing (if at all). It plays a few seconds of video, then freezes on a frame and plays audio only until the video finishes.  My screen and playhead freeze along with it. Even force quit won't shut down Premiere when this happens.

I tried clearing my media cache, prefrences, and creating proxies (as this is long, 4K footage) but nothing has worked. I re-rendered the entire timeline (mostly green w a little bit of yellow now), then detatched the proxies and created new ones at a smaller resolution (960x540). My proxy button is toggled on, and I have restarted my computer and premiere multiple times. Now nothing from the sequence will preview, I just see a black screen, although my screen will allow the playhead to scrub through.

My system specs:

MacBook Pro with Apple M2 Chip

16 GB memory

Version 15.3.2

Storage:  15.28 GB available of 494.38 GB

Any help or advice would be very appreciated. Thank you!

HI @Mckenna381595335afu,

Thanks for the question and welcome to our community. I appreciate the post and the information you gave us. The thing that sticks out the most is that your HD is way too full. Can you move off a couple dozen or more GB to a portable drive? Delete video previews? Empty trash? Move media files elsewhere? I think that's the first thing to try. You can also try resetting the workspace and choosing "No Input" on your Audio Hardware Preferences' Input setting. I hope the advice helps you. Let us know.

Take Care,

Kevin
