I'm having the same issue with the playhead not moving during playback. This started happening after updating to Version 23.6. 
Undocking the timeline panel worked to get the playhead moving again.

Here's a solution that worked for me: I undocked the timeline panel, and it started working. I docked it back in the same location, and it still works.

      Just once, it would be wonderful if Adobe wouldn't create a new bug like this when trying to fix other bugs. This is so frustrating. I would prefer to not have to learn Divinci Resolve.

      This happens on every video.

        Hi there, we're sorry to hear about this. Is this happening with any specific project/sequence? Also, please share a screenshot of the Audio Hardware preferences window.

        My playhead does the same thing. It will move about 10 frames, then stops moving, yet the clip still plays in the composition window. When hitting the spacebar to stop the playbar, it suddenly moves to the actual frame in the timeline. 

         

        This is a brand new installation of AE v. 25.4.0 (Build 86). I've got a brand new Nvidia RTX 5080 with updated drivers. NOTHING suggested in this post has any effect on the playbar.

         

        Any solutions yet?
