This is driving me crazy. The playhead constantly sticks to my cursor at random occasions. Does anyone have the same problem, and hopefully a solution?

Render your timeline.

Your machine is not powerfull enough to play the Ae comp.

Or render the Ae comp out of Ae to an intermediate file and use that in Premiere.

Thanks! Hiding the AE comp works.

How can I make my machine powerfull enough? More RAM?

@Euan McGrath

What are the complete computer specs, including hard drives (how many, what kind, what is on each, what capacity, and how full)?

If NVIDIA graphics, make sure to use the latest Studio Driver from NVIDIA (NOT the Game Driver).

You might need to free up some hard drive space.

I am no computer expert but I don't understand how Drive Space relates to something that feels as random and frankly buggy as this?

To clarify its no relation to AE comps or anything specific… It happens with many projects, but when it happens and what causes it is a mystery? Every once in awhile, the playhead suddenly becomes stuck to the cursor - meaning that everywhere I move my cursor, the playhead zips around the screen following it, only stopping doing so after I repeatedly click outside of the timeline, its then normal again until the next occurrence.

For the vast majority of computers out there, it's wiser as a practical thing to export Ae comps as video files from Ae when the comp is 'right'. Use that to replace the comp on the sequence, and many problems become ... not a problem.

I'm having the same issue constantly while scrubbing footage. The playhead keeps sticking to the cursor until I click it again. Has anyone found a solution to this?

I ended up uninstalling Premiere, then reinstalling the latest version… Seems to be okay for now, but a wouldnt say it felt like a solution, more a coincidence
