Question

Poor quality when exporting a video

Hi!

My export settings seem to be fine but after exporting it, the quality is very bad. When I try to match the scale to the source (720x405), thepreview window shows a bad quality video. This has never happened before with the videos I have filmed and that I directly exported from SD card to Premiere.

Could someone please help me with this? I've attached my export settings in this question.

Thank youso much in advance!

Kind regards,

Kim

As Michael mentioned here, you're upscaling your sequence a lot (your original sequence is not even HD and you're upscaling it to Full HD) and this will always cause some quality issues. You're also "upscaling" the frame rate.

Look at your source pixel dimensions and your output pixel dimensions.  You're uprezzing the video an enormous amount with a resulting loss in quality.  It could be this is caused by bad workflow if your source properties are a higher resolution than your sequence settings...   Please tell us the pixel dimensions of your sources (select a clip in the project window or the timeline and right click and choose properties) and your sequence pixel dimensions (make the timeline active and go to sequence:  sequence settings).

Thanks! I've taken photos of the properties window of the clip, sequence, and jpeg image that I included in the video. I'm new to Premiere, so I find it difficult to grasp it.

first, you'll make it much easier for people here trying to help by copying and pasting the settings directly in to the post rather than making us view an image...  Not a big deal...  but

Ok, you've edited HD material into a sequence with much smaller pixel dimensions and then uprezzed it on your output...  You can adjust your sequence settings to match your desired export settings.  You may need to adjust scaling of individual clips in the sequence but shouldn't be too big a deal...  Post back with any questions.

Premiere is a very complex program and might be a good idea for you to do some basic tutorials to get a better handle on what's going on...  LinkedinLearning has some great comprehensive tutorials.  It's not cheap, but I think there's a free trial.  They're curated and generally worth exploring.  There are great tutorials available on youtube, but you've got to spend some time finding dependable ones.  And there are great resources on the adobe website..
