Poor USB Audio output to external USB interface

Hi all,

I'm using Premiere Pro CC on a Windows 10 machine. Currently, I output audio to an M-Audio Fast Track, with headphones plugged into the Fast Track (my laptops' 3.5mm input is broken). When I listen to other audio sources (such as Itunes or Youtube) I get perfectly clear sound. However, when I'm monitoring audio in Premiere it comes through very distorted, including a lot of intermittent white noise. The Fast Track is set to my default playback device in Windows settings and as default input and output in Premieres' audio hardware preferences.

Can anyone help solve this issue? Thanks in advance!

Are there any settings for audio sample rate? For Premiere it should be 48k rather than the more common CD standard of 44.1.

    That did it - something along those lines anyhow! In Premiere I changed the settings from this (where the default mic input meant the sample rates weren't matching)

    To no input, as below

    So that there was just one overall sample rate. Now the audio is clear as day.

    Although, after replying this I am sometimes still getting the issue, and now it's appearing elsewhere too (such as on Youtube). It could be some faulty hardware, as I did buy the USB interface secondhand. However, adjusting the sample rate did provide a marked result - as does turning off the Fast Tracks' mic input in both Windows and Premiere. Maybe I just need to have a further play around with aforementioned settings.
