Question

Popping/crackling audio

I'll start by saying I'm rather new at all this.

I have an issue with version 24.3 that any audio I put into Premiere be it attached to a video or just raw audio is popping and crackling like crazy.

I'm using a Scarlett 2i2 4th gen, have an HP Omen with

AMD Ryzen 7 5700G 3.8GHz

128Gb RAM

RTX 3060Ti Graphics Card

Sound is similar to a record player. I have deleted the cache, adjusted buffer size, moved from ASIO to MME, adjusted sample size (even though everthing is matched at 48k). Absolutely nothing else has this crackling sound, just Adobe. Exported videos do not have the same issue. I have the same problem with Premiere pro audio just through the Realtek windows headphone output as well. No effects on my audio, just straight audio. When I first got Premiere I did not have this problem, think the problem may have started with the 2024 edition. I'm not a moron, but I don't spend all day doing this and I'm rather new so I'm not crazy computer savvy, but something is obviously wrong and it's making it very difficult to work on music videos, which is what I'm primarily using it for.

Not sure what else I can illustrate to help, I've checked all the relevant previous posts in here and tried anything applicable without any luck whatsoever. Hoping someone can help me fix this problem!

Hello @Mojoe333003497atj ,

Thanks for the message. We didn't hear back from you after my latest request for files. Are you still having this issue? I'll move your post to the Discussions board while we await your information.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi @Mojoe333003497atj,

You can upload the footage to any service, like DropBox or Google Drive, and then PM me the link. Otherwise, you can run your file through MediaInfo (freeware) in "Tree View" and provide a screenshot. I hope that helps.

Thanks,

Kevin

I'm using GoPro footage, I'm not sure how to upload a sample file to this forum, but I can attach a link to a YouTube video that is raw footage from my GoPro (other than what YouTube does to it)

Hello @Mojoe333003497atj,

Thanks for the info you provided. I had a similar issue in 24.3 Beta that I could not resolve. It was with iPhone footage. What kind of footage did you have this experience with? Is it possible to upload a a sample file that caused the issue? I could pass it along to developers.

Thanks,
Kevin

One simple thing to try is in Prefences/Audio Hardware set Default Input to No Input. That often fixes some strange issues.
