PP not default app after upgrade to 25.0

Since I upgraded to PP 25.0, Windows 11 no longer recognizes it as the app to use to open .prproj files. Setting it in the Control Panel doesn't work, nor does right-clicking on the prproj file and setting it in the file properties; Windows refuese to recognize it as a valid app. I uninstalled and reinstalled PP: no joy. Did a quick look at the registry, but did't want to spend much time in that rabbit hole untill posting here.

I repeatedly tried both suggestions below, no joy.

I then took the plunge and went into the registry and found several instances where the key which references the installation directory, e.g. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro 202x\Adobe Premiere Pro.exe...  pointed at the 2024 directory (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro 2024)  rather than the correct 2025 directory. Correcting the entries fixed the problem. Issues with the upgrade script? That'd be my guess.

Good job! 🙂

However, I doubt your conclusion.

Which one of these two should I edit?

Strange the right-click on a .prproj file and selecting Open With, and the PP and 'always' should do it.

If not, go into the settings app,

Find a setting 'default'

type in 'prproj' in the 'Set a default for type or link type

...

Give it a try

Fire up 2025 then open your project (file > open Project).

See how that goes.
