Pr_24.2.1: all text layers stop being active

Hi. A new problem I've come across recently in Premiere pro 24.2.1. At some point all the text layers created inside Premiere Pro via the Text tool stop being active as soon as you click on them to type. It looks like this: you select a layer and see the text frame, you click inside of it to start typing but it immediatelly becomes inactive as if after clicking you someone hit Esc or clicked another layer. So you just cannot type in any text layer until you restart Premiere Pro. It goes like this both in the Effects and the Essential graphics panels. I have it on the video below.

And yes my keyboard is perfectly fine, all the keys work flawlessly and the keyboard software is not interfering (it's actually all defaults since I haven't got a moment to change the settings to my liking).
