Hi there - I have a question re: overwriting files.
The background: I have a project (project A), from which I export files into a folder on my desktop. I import these files into another project (project B), from which I export the final clips.
I open both projects (A and B) in the same PP instance and make edits to timelines in both projects simultaneously.
My problem: I want to re-export some clips from Project A into the same folder and with the same file name on my desktop, by overwriting the previously exported clips. Before exporting, I close Project B (File > Close Project) in the Premier Pro session (therefore, only Project A is open). When I try to export, I get the error that the "File already exists in the Project. Please choose a different name". Please see attached error. Note: project B is closed at this point, so the file is not being used in the Premier Pro instance.
However, if I close the entire PP instance and re-open Project A, it allows me to re-export the file using the same folder and file name without any problems - no error message.
So, it seems like Premier Pro retains Project B files in memory even after I close the project. Can someone please tell me how to get around this?
Note: I do not want Import Project A sequences into Project B, as I have several hundred sequences in Project A (and it creates a giant mess in Project B).
Thanks for your help 🙂

Thanks Harold!!
How can I clear the media cache without closing the PP session?
Also, is there a way to automatically clear the media cache when closing the project?
