Premiere 24.3 - Cross Dissolve Issue

Having an issue after updating to premiere 24.3 with cross dissolves - instead of fading to black or up from black smoothly, it fades to gray and then to black or picture. This only happens in playback, does not translate to renders.

Anyone else seeing this?

Been having the same issue for months now, happened both an an M1 Max and now an M4 Max. Only happens on Mercury Transmit.

Apple M2 Mac Studio and Premiere Version 25.1

Still have the same issue. It appeared overnight sometime ago and I had enough projects without cross dissolves that I forgot about until recently. It only appears in fullscreen mode. And I think there's one more element that hopefully might help: A thin white outline also appears over the fullscreen image that I'm convinced is new and only recently emerged.

You can see it in the top and bottom of this image for example.

I'm having the same problem in full screen mode - so are alot of my post peers at Media Arts Lab.  I'm on v24.5 on an Apple M2 Pro.  It goes away when I render, but very annoying, especially during client presentations.  This seems to be present on every workstation.

Hey @mcdonald0688,

That sounds frustrating. Can you try Premiere Pro Beta as a test?

Thanks,

Kevin

I just played with it for awhile. Nothing I did could duplicate the low level gray in the program monitor, 24.5 and 24.6 b75

I'm having the same problem with version 24.5. Attached is a screenshot showing that gray when I simply apply a cross dissolve transition to a black video. It disappears when I render the timeline but I would like to be able to work without rendering everytime.
I tried clearing Media Cache and unchecking Composite in linear color in the sequence settings. It didn't solve the problem.

It seems that you have a video filter on the Black Video. The fx-icon to the right of the Black Video in one of your screenshots is white and that indicates that you have one or more video filters on it. On my screenshot i have Lumetri on the Black Bideo and have the blacks adjusted and thus got the same/similar result as you.

The black video you have is 1920x1080 while your sequence is 3840x2160 as well. You want the Black Video to be 3840x2160 as well.

To hopefully fix it:

  1.  Click on the black Video on the timeline
  2.  Go to Window > Effect Controls
  3.  Delete all video filters underneath Time Remapping

How does it look now?

I have deleted all fx and I still see it gray. Please see the screenshot below.

I did the black video 1920x1080 while my sequence is 3840x2160 in order to see this 'grayness' more apperent.

Are you an Mac as well? (The TS is)

Have you tried to create a brand new project and if yes, can you reproduce it in that project?

Yes, brand new project, I attach it if that makes sense.

Try unchecking Composite in linear color in the sequence settings.

Try pressing Enter to render the timeline and turn the red line above the timeline to green.

Hey there,

Sorry for the issue. I couldn't replicate this problem on my end. Could you try clearing your Media Cache (https://adobe.ly/3VXsZbz) and check if that helps? If you still see the problem, try using the effect in a new project. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Ishan
