Question

Premiere gets stuck on opening the explorer

Hi,

I have a very annoying bug:

When I open the filebrowser from within Premiere (to save a project, or to import material, or load a LUT or whatever) the explorer window doesn`t appear and I get stuck and can`t do anything anymore except to force quite Premiere. It doesn`t happen every time, but rather randomly and often enough to really get annoyed. I had to repeat so much work already.

I tried to change windows settings to make windows always appear in front, but that didn`t do it. It seems, Premiere gets stuck while opening the explorer.

I am working on windows 10, newest version of Premiere (it already happened on the previous version as well).

Anything I can do to fix this?

thanks!

Still getting this problem for the last few years. Almost every time you try to open a windows folder in order to import something or save you exports, Premiere gets stuck and everywhere you click you just here the windows ping sound, no visible error message and nothing responds so you have to force close everything and lose your progress.

Sharing screenshots of places where it happens for example, (when try to import a preset from a folder or when you select a location to save your export)

This is a problem in the local computer, where there are probably corrupted files on the Premiere installation.

Sometimes a reset of preferences may work, but for many this seems to require uninstall of at least the Creative Cloud desktop app and PrPro, reboot, then reinstall the CC app then each CC app.

Everyone's mileage always varies ...

im having the same issue.. i found out if you wait a while it will open up in the end but that could take up to 5-10 min. It just freezes and you can click anything and it does the sound when you click something and there is a windows open somewhere on the front.

I have this issue as well, and my my colleagues get it randomly also.

It is random when it happens but when it does, its so annoying, The export window doesn't appear and I have to force quite my Premiere.

Have you had any good feed back?
I've tried everything!

Cheers.

Hello everyone,

Have there been any fixes for this issue discovered?
I've been encountering this issue for the past several months. I typically encounter it when I've opened up the export window, and once you click on the file name to designate the output folder, the file explorer window never opens, essentially locking up Premiere. I also get it double clicking in my project bin to import footage. Just as originally stated, this issue doesn't occur 100% of the time, but after I've been editing for a while, it's almost guaranteed that the next time Premiere tries to open a File Explorer window, it'll happen.
I've tried resetting my cache and deleting my preferencing, as well as a doing a full re-install of Premiere. This issue continues to re-appear as Reiner_M stated in the original post.
Thanks for your help with this issue!

I am also back to the same problem, but on another computer. More or less every second time it crashes. No idea what to do

If you're trying to import some content into your Project panel and you're not getting any windows open, you could also drag and drop content using File Explorer (Win) or Finder (Mac)

By Filebrowser  I mean the File Explorer. Of course I could drag and dropfiles. But it also happens when I want to save the project, export something, load a LUT in Lumetri and so on. And it does not happen regularly, it's more a lottery when it works and when not...

I see.

Have you tried resetting your Premiere preferences?

What do you mean by "filebrowser"? Are you reffering to Project panel?

Try deleting your preferences:
