Question

Premiere keeps freezing when I try to add a new video or audio track

Whenever I try to drag up a clip to start a new track or even right click and use the "Add Tracks" option, the whole program frezes up and stops responding. Anyway to fix this?

FIXED - someone from Adobe contacted me and said it's a bug with control surfaces.  I was using Lopedeck.  As soon as I removed Lopedeck problems went away!!!

I just installed 14.7 and it does sort this problem but only on new projects. HOWEVER.... its has another catastrophic bug. If you try to delete a sequence the sysytem hangs. I also got a hand whilst setting sequence preferences such as changing codec for preview renders. Basically for me on a 2015 Mac pro Catalina 8 core 14.4 is the last useable version of this debackle of an application.  Trashing preferences and clearing caches does not soprt the problem either.

As a professional editor I am shocked by this to totally hobbled application. Another wasted day and another reason to revert to Avid Media Composer or migrate to DaVinci Resolve.

The current update fixes this error. Just tested by myself.

Same problem here. This never happened until the 14.6 update just 4 days ago. Now, I can't add tracks. It just freezes up indefinitely and I have to force close.

There is a lot of information that we do not have to try to help you, tell us for example, what version of Premiere Pro you are using, the technical details of your system, what storage, what processor, what GPU, how much RAM, etc. Also with what type of video files are you working, what format, what codec, etc (you can use MediaInfo app). These details are important because they allow us to get an idea of where the issue could be.
