Premiere not using Nvidia GPU in Surface Book 3

Hi,

 

I have a brand new Surface Book 3 to edit on while I travel some this summer. When I export (while watching the performace tab in Task Manager) I notice that the new hardware accelerated video recording is being done by the Intel Iris GPU not the Nvidia GtX 1660 Ti. I've called Microsoft about this and they say to set the programs to use the Nvidia GPU in the "Manage 3D settings" in the Nvidia Control Panel. But that doesn't seem to have any affect.

Thoughts?

    I think I've figured this out. Microsoft told me to use the Nvidia Control Panel app to set specific "3D" settings for each program, but everytime I set those, the settings wouldn't stick. They would be back to default whenever I went back to the program. But in a search for how to get OBS softwere to see the Intel Iris graphics card in order to record the internal display I found a setting in Windows. In Settings, search "Graphics Settings". There you can add "classic" apps (by searching for their installed .exe files) and assign them a "High Performance" (Nvidia) or "Power Saving" (Intel Iris) profile. After assiging Premiere and Media Encoder to "High Performance" I did a test export and it went much faster and utilized the Nvidia card as evidence in Task Manager's Performance tab.
