Premiere Pro 2020 Erased my Project

I always save my project progressively, as I go and it is saved through the auto saves, none are visible in my terrabyte (everything is saved there) or when I open premiere pro it is not listed on there as an option to open. I've had 2020 since it came out but this is the first time I've had trouble with Premiere in this way since using the application (2019). Any suggestions on where to find these files or have you had the same occurance?

Also when a file is saved it is usual turned to a project file (.prproj) ever since the 2020 update I have not gotten that file made, I would have to open the application and click the project from the listing that shows previous projects worked on. PS all of those are gone, theres no listing.

Try auto save.

If you transfer your projects and other assets outside of Premiere, it has no way to track them. So if you moved anything, you have to then go into Premiere and relocate it via the Media Browser panel typically.

As Ann says, do a finder/explorer search, or if you recall where you set things, navigate to where you chose to put them.

I have had this same issue. Worked on a project last week now when I search on finder or through ext HD (where backups where saved) or on cpu all are gone.

Even the folder on the HD says it was last modified July 8, yet the last modified file was July 6. The PP project I was working on was July 8 and had been backing up. It is no longer in the original folder (saved where the session video clips were also originated (they are all still there, thankfully) and the auto save seems to have just forgotten any work done between July 8 and June 11?

Where could these files have gone? I have even done a repair on the HD since and it showed no faults

How full is the hard drive?  What size is it?

Premiere doesn't erase anything. This is typically a situation of drive and folder permissions or other things like "hidden" files. So you need to sort out that file management stuff.

The Premiere project file is of course a .prproj file. Make sure Finder/Explorer show the extension with the name to find them.

And of course your project file is saved in the folder and named as you created it in the initial Project dialog. You do have a drive with a folder setup you use for Premiere projects right?

Thanks for the reply Neil!

Is there a way to see these hidden files? or a way to access the project I was working on from your knowledge that you recommend I do.

All of my projects that were on "recent" when you first open the application, have been taken away.  I've been opening the project (2020 project) like that for about 3-4 days then it disappeared. I typically save it on my terrabyte directly (changed location to save on terra instead of computer) and I soon then move it to its appropriate file which in my case is a business name that changes with each project instead of a designated file strictly for premiere saved files. Maybe since it was a new update I had to re-switch my preferred saved location from saving it on premiere to my terra, but if thats the case (me speculating here to give you a better chance of pinpointing a solution) can I some how find a way to open it since it was saved during the process, manually and auto-saved (no autosave file is visible either)?

Premiere does not delete your projects or media.

Do a finder/explorer search.

Make a habit of Save a Copy (backup) to a different drive.
