Premiere Pro 23.3 vs Ultrastudio 4K mini

Hallo,

This setup: Mac Studio, OSX Monterey, blackmagic driver 12.4.2, Premiere Pro 23.3

Audio playback works fine for the Mac (through audio settings) and for Premiere Pro.

But the Blackmagic Ultrastudio 4K mini is not shown/available in the 'playback' tab of the Premiere settings to have also video output.

Any idea's? Or is it just another Adobe glitch that we have to undergo for months?

Regards, Willem-A.

this update: the trick seems to be the order of the installations:

- if you install the BlackMagic driver first and then the Adobe apps: nok

- if you install the Adobe apps and then the BlackMagic driver: ok

Also this:

OSX Monterey + Premiere Pro 23.3 + BlackMagic Desktop 12.4.1 = winning combination

Does the UltraStudio 4K Mini show under the Device pulldown menu of Blackmagic Media Express?

Does the UltraStudio 4K Mini show when you launch Blackmagic Desktop Video Setup?

Also, when you were presented with macOS prompts that either Premiere Pro or Blackmagic needed permission, did you always choose "Allow"?

Hi Willem,

Thanks for reporting back. This is an issue on macOS Ventura. It has some pretty severe requirements when apps like a BMD driver changes the Premiere Pro app package. So, you have it right. Install Premiere Pro. Launch it at least once, and then install the BMD drivers. The team will be writing up a knowledge base document for troubleshooting this very issue. I appreciate you coming up with these steps and will point others to this thread around how to manage this frustrating problem.

Take Care,
Kevin

Hi Willem,

I read your note and you said your device is not being detected by Premiere Pro. Another BMD user recently posted that it was working fine. You may want to reinstall the driver and Premiere Pro to see if that might fix the issue. I hope the community can help you with a fix.

Thanks,
Kevin
